How the calculator estimates reclaim

It's a real approximation, not magic.

Each tool has a rebuild cost and a typical recurring vendor cost on direct billing. Y1 reclaim = (your annual SaaS spend) − (direct vendor cost) − (rebuild amortized) − (hosting + ops).

01 · Default spend

Defaults reflect mid-market profiles.

Each tool's default spend matches a typical mid-market customer (50K–500K contacts, 30–100 seats, $50M GMV, etc.). Your real spend may be 2–5× higher or lower. Ticking is enough for a first signal — the Stack Review nails the actual number.

02 · Rebuild + hosting cost

Reclaim subtracts the real cost of switching.

Each tool has a known rebuild cost ($9K–$98K) and ongoing hosting (~$3–15K/yr). The calculator amortizes the rebuild over 12 months for the Y1 number. Y2+ savings are typically ~80% of the recurring SaaS spend minus hosting.

Why is the default spend so different from what I pay?
Defaults are typical mid-market profiles. Smaller teams pay less. Enterprise contracts can be 5–10× higher because of seat counts, custom plans, and vendor minimums. The Stack Review uses your actual contracts — no assumptions.
Does this account for switching costs / migration risk?
Partially. The rebuild cost includes migration design and parallel-run cutover support. Soft costs (training, change management, internal communication) are not included — those vary by org. The Stack Review walks through migration risk specifically.
What about the Y2+ math? Just Y1 here.
Y2 onwards is approximately the recurring SaaS spend minus hosting (~$3–15K/yr) minus optional Managed Upstream ($14K–$114K/yr). For a 3-year TCO comparison, the Stack Review delivers a CFO-friendly memo.
